At the OTT Question Time Live 2025 conference in London, Gabriel Cosgrave (GM EMEA at TiVo) and David Salmon (EVP International at Tubi) discussed exciting trends in streaming. They highlighted the synergy between TiVo and Tubi, especially with Tubi’s recent launch on TiVo-powered Smart TVs in the UK.

A Partnership for the Future

Gabriel Cosgrave introduced TiVo’s reach, touching 40 million households worldwide and adding 2 million active smart TVs this year. He emphasized the importance of content partners like Tubi, saying, “We’re thrilled to bring Tubi’s extensive library to our Smart TV users in the UK.”
David Salmon echoed this, explaining Tubi’s mission to offer free, premium content without subscription fees. “Partnering with TiVo allows us to reach a broader audience and enhance the viewing experience with TiVo’s advanced technology,” he said.

The “New-stalgia” Concept

David explained “new-stalgia” as people rediscovering classic series like “Friends” and “The Office.” In 2023, all top 10 titles in the UK were nostalgic. He noted that video consumption is mirroring music consumption patterns, with evergreen content maintaining strong viewer preferences.

Enhancing the Viewer Experience

With Tubi’s app now on TiVo-powered Smart TVs, users enjoy a seamless viewing experience. Gabriel noted, “TiVo’s interface is user-friendly, making it easy to navigate Tubi’s vast library.” TiVo’s personalized recommendations and voice search features enhance content discovery.
David also mentioned the growing trend of ad-supported streaming services, which benefit viewers with free content and offer advertisers unique opportunities.

Content-Centric Approach

Gabriel highlighted TiVo’s content-centric UI, designed to prioritize content over apps. David emphasized Tubi’s commitment to personalization through advanced machine learning algorithms.

Vision for the Future

The TiVo-Tubi partnership blends innovative technology and rich content, catering to modern viewers’ tastes. This collaboration aims to redefine the streaming landscape in the UK and beyond, focusing on thoughtful expansion and putting viewers at the center.
