Janu-Airing Premieres

 In Entertainment, What to Watch

The gifts don’t slow down after December 25th, because the New Year brings us January premieres! And this January, we have plenty of new and returning shows to look forward to, kicking 2014 off on a high note. Although we do have to say adieu to American Horror Story: Coven and Betrayal, we look forward to getting back Sherlock, Cougar Town and many other favorites. Here are the shows we’ve already taken the opportunity to hit record on:

  1. Community NBC (Thursday, January 2nd) – The season that almost wasn’t. Jeff and Pierce graduated from Greendale Community College at the end of the fourth season, and from the looks of the season 5 trailer, Jeff Winger has fallen on some hard times. So what does his graduation mean for the show? Is there life after college for the cast? Will #sixseasonsandamovie become a reality, and is Dan (Harmon) the Man for the job?

  1. Parks and Recreation NBC (Thursday, January 9th) – After taking a break in 2013, the series continues to march forward as Leslie Knope sets out to move forward in office. Everyone seems thrilled to be back – Everyone except Ron Swanson, who’s returning from his latest Coyote hunting excursion. In related news, coyotes are now on the endangered species list.

  1. Girls HBO (Sunday, January 12th) – Fans won’t be able to wait any longer for this Season 3 premiere. A comedy-drama that follows a close group of twenty-somethings living in New York City, it can be described as a more realistic spin on Sex and the City. As the show’s slogan boasts, they’re “Almost getting it kind of together,” and we can’t wait to see what Lena Dunham has in store for Hannah and her three friends.

These three top picks aside, we have a number of others to look forward to. The Bachelor, Archer, American Idol, and The Vampire Diaries (to name a few) will all be airing in January. We hope you start preparing your TiVo for a month of premieres that are worth celebrating! In fact, we think everyone’s New Year’s resolution should be for a little more time with their TiVo.
