Real Housewives: the First Ladies of Bravo
Real Housewives mania started back in March of 2006 when Bravo introduced us to the first installment of the series. The ladies of Orange County were the opening act to what has become a 7-year stint into the lives of women who share their families, vacations, shopping and drama with us on a weekly basis.
Bravo capitalized on the success of Real Housewives of Orange Country and created casts in New York City, Atlanta, New Jersey, Beverly Hills and Miami and Washington D.C.
Many of the women have been give spin-off shows and gone on to become celebrities in their own right. Bethenny Frankel of New York City founded the Skinnygirl Cocktail line and her own spin-off show with former husband Jason Hoppy and Nene Leakes of Atlanta saw her acting career in Hollywood take off after being a cast member.
There are a few housewives who may be a little more familiar than the rest, whether it’s because their fan favorites, or just loud enough to draw attention, these ladies have captured our attention:
- Vicky Gunvalsen – the last of the original cast from the first season of the Real Housewives of Orange County who is known for her independent personality and crazy relationships.
- Lisa Vanderpump – from the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, who exerts her motherly wisdom on the cast and her staff at her multiple lavish restaurants.
- LuAnn de Lesseps – otherwise known as the Countess who leads the charge in New York City as she preaches etiquette on her fellow cast members.
Airing now are the Real Housewives of Orange County on Monday nights 9/8c and the Real Housewives of New Jersey on Sunday nights 8/7c. Friendships come and go, but the drama is always real.
Are you loyal to one city and cast, or do you indulge in them all?
