The TiVo Series2 Dual Tuner DVR brings you all your favorite TV shows from your cable or satellite service, ready to watch whenever you want. Plus it can connect to the Internet, using your home network, to deliver movies, music, photos, and more, right to your TV.

What is the hard drive size?

Can I increase the recording capacity later?

What signal sources does the TiVo Series2 DVR support?

The TiVo Series2 Dual Tuner DVR can be set up to work in any of the following configurations:

  • Cable without a box
    (record 2 shows at once)
  • Cable with a box
    (record one premium channel and one basic channel at once, or two basic channels at once)
  • Satellite with a box
    (record only one channel at a time)
  • Satellite with a box + cable without a box
    (record one satellite channel and one basic channel at once, or two basic channels at once)

It does NOT support:

  • Antenna
  • HD channels
  • CableCARD decoders
What outputs are supported on the TiVo Series2 DVR?

Does the TiVo Series2 work with satellite programming?

Yes, the TiVo Series2 can control a satellite box to record one channel of satellite programming at a time. The TiVo Series2 can NOT support high-definition satellite channels.

What are the USB ports for?

The USB ports are for connecting the DVR to your home network with the TiVo wireless adapter.

Can I use any wireless network adapter on my TiVo Series2 DVR?

There are some wireless adapters that work with the Series2 DVR, but the TiVo wireless adapter only wireless network adapter for TiVo DVRs that supports both WEP and WPA wireless network security protocols. See a list of compatible wireless adapters.

How is TiVo Series2 different from the TiVo HD and Series3 DVRs?

The TiVo HD DVR supports digital and high definition programming from cable and antenna. The TiVo Series2 DVR supports only standard definition from cable, cable with a box, or satellite with a box. Both DVRs can be connected to either a standard TV or an HD TV, but only the TiVo HD DVR can display in high definition on your HD TV. The TiVo HD has more than twice the recording capacity of the TiVo Series2 DVR.

Which features work with the TiVo Series2 DVR?

With a TiVo DVR connected to an existing phone line or home network you can:

  • Record every episode of your favorite show
  • Record two shows at once
  • Control live and recorded shows with pause, rewind, fast-forward, instant replay, and slow motion
  • Search for shows by title, actor, category, or keyword
  • Record by actor, director, or even your favorite sports team
  • See shows TiVo recommends just for you

When the TiVo DVR is connected to a home network that includes a PC or Mac you can:

  • Take your shows with you on your laptop, iPod, PSP, or other compatible device (requires TiVo Desktop Plus software for the PC or Roxio® Toast Titanium for the Mac)
  • Transfer shows between multiple TiVo DVRs on your home network
  • Save shows to DVD using your PC or Mac (requires TiVo Desktop Plus software for the PC or Roxio® Toast Titanium for the Mac)
  • Play your own music library from your PC or Mac through your TV (requires FREE TiVo Desktop software for the PC or Mac)
  • View your computer's photo library and slideshows on your TV (requires FREE TiVo Desktop software for the PC or Mac)

Does the TiVo DVR work with my cable company's video-on-demand and pay-per-view services?

No. In order to use certain advanced and interactive digital cable services such as video-on-demand, enhanced program guide, and pay-per-view services you would need to use a separate cable company-provided set-top box. For more information about interactive digital cable services, please call your local cable operator.

What else do I need besides the TiVo Series2 DVR?

You need a subscription to the TiVo service, along with either a phone line or a home network connected to a high-speed Internet connection, a TV source (cable or satellite) and, of course, a TV.
