TiVo Winter Olympic Coverage — Top Moments — February 15, 2014

A TV night of many entertaining storylines and matchups was dominated by Women’s Alpine Skiing. At the halfway point of the 22nd Sochi Winter Olympics, multiple rivalries surfaced – from Men’s Hockey with an overtime matchup of the United States vs. Russia to Men’s Short Track, where an adopted Russian racer out-performed his former countrymen. No event seemed to bring in more views than the Women’s Alpine Skiing – Super-G which once again put the Austria and United States rivalry on center stage.

Four of TiVo’s Top Moments involved the Super-G event.  The flawless run from Austria’s Anna Fenninger set the bar high and led to some very entertaining attempts from other competitor to try to top it. Maria Höefl-Riesch of Germany provided the most excitement and the Top TiVo Moment by coming within less than a second from Fenninger’s time. Representing the United States Julia Mancuso – who has had a past competitive relationship with Austria’s ski team – lost some speed throughout her run that she tried to make up near the end, to only place in 8th overall. Not all racers were fortunate enough to make it down the difficult course: our last top moment of Olympic coverage was Elisabeth Goergl of Austria exiting the course, unable to finish her run.
