Now that the holiday season has come to an end, and I’ve had a minute to catch my breath, I’ve made a very important realization: I kind of love Amy Adams. Unlike some actors who play the same role in every movie, and yes I’m looking at you Vince Vaughn, Adams chooses roles that run the gamut, and she excels in all of them. Whether she’s playing a naive fairytale princess making her way in New York City (“Enchanted”), or a struggling single mom trying to build a business (“Sunshine Cleaning”), Adams brings a vulnerability to each character that’s refreshing and engaging and makes you can’t help but love her…and I do!
I never read about Adams in the tabloids, which is another reason I like her so much, but because of this, I don’t know much about her. So I did a little digging and found some interesting tidbits. For instance, did you know Adams was born in Italy? Or that she was on a television show based on “Cruel Intentions” titled “Manchester Prep”? Did you even know there was a TV show based on “Cruel Intentions”? Apparently the show never aired, and was later released directly to video as “Cruel Intentions 2.” It’s really too bad it never become a regular series—besides starring the lovely Amy Adams, I think we can all agree you can never have too many shows featuring 25-year-old actors playing 15-year-old students who have the problems of 45-year-old socialites.
Amy Adams has an impressive body of work, including two critically acclaimed films currently in theaters: “Her” and “American Hustle.” In the last decade, Adams has been nominated for an Academy Award four times for Best Supporting Actress, and on January 12, 2014, won a Golden Globe for her work in “American Hustle.” To see what makes Adams so special, check out our “We Heart Amy Adams” collection.
