Ho Ho Ho! TiVo’s Survey Uncovers Holiday Favorites!   by

In the spirit of the holiday season we at TiVo asked TV Lovers to picture their perfect Christmas. Dinner with the cast of “Modern Family”, the stars of “The Big Bang Theory” wrapped neatly under the tree and a Santa Claus that looks suspiciously like George Clooney are the elements to a very merry Christmas.  Oh, and family too! Respondents kept in step with the notion that the holidays are first and foremost about loved ones as 42% of participants favored watching the season’s classics with their family compared to 31% who chose to watch them bundled up with only the warmth of their significant other.

Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer was chosen as the character that symbolized the season best at 51%, while the classic film “A Christmas Story” received 20% of the votes beating “It’s a Wonderful Life” (18%) as the best film to spread holiday cheer. We also learned that nearly half of the respondents planned on traveling over an hour this holiday break to see family and loved ones. People in the age range 18-34 had the highest likelihood of dusting off their sleigh for the season as 65% plan to travel for an hour or more. On or off the road, “Breaking Bad” was elected as the show of choice to binge-view with 20% of the votes.

The character most likely to receive coal in their stocking this season is Capitan Hook from “Once Upon A Time” with 36% of the votes, but Leonard Hofstadter tops the nice list at 33% of the votes. Kaley Cuoco (41%) and Jim Parsons (32%) from “The Big Bang Theory” are the gifts most desired to be found under the tree this year. The cast of “Modern Family” was the first choice to have around the dinner table at 48%, with the runner-up being the cast of “New Girl” (21%). As for old Saint Nick? Ryan Reynolds came second to George Clooney who scored 53% of the votes as the ideal candidate for the iconic role of Santa Claus this season.
