What would you do if you had three months of free time? Travel the world? Write the next great American novel? Learn to play a musical instrument? How about taking three months of your life to arrange clips of dialogue from 280 movies into a single music video re-creating the iconic 90’s Vanilla Ice hit “Ice Ice Baby”? Stop right there. The internet (with it’s infinite amounts of spare time) has already accomplished that last one and we’ve fallen in love with it.
This week, we ran across “Ice Ice Baby” Sung by the Movies and all we can say is “Wow.” Well, first we said “Are you serious? Who would take the time and effort to do something this insane?”…but then we said “Wow.” But our fascination didn’t stop there. We had to know which 280 movies were used to create this modern day masterpiece. We’ve done the research and created a collection highlighting all the movies included in the original YouTube clip.
It’s a wildly varied list with everything from Jabba the Hutt saying “SOLO!” to three different versions of Arnold Schwarzenegger used to create the chorus. It may be the only list where you see indies like “The Squid and the Whale” and “SLC Punk!” along side dance flick “Breakin’ 2: Electric Boogaloo” and the Disney classic “Herbie Goes to Monte Carlo.” It’s a smorgasbord of absurdity…and we couldn’t love it more.
Check out the original clip and the entire list of movies it took to get every word of Vanilla Ice’s original song by going to TiVo Central, selecting “Find TV, Movies, & Videos” and “Browse TV & Movies” to find the “Ice Ice Movies” collection.
