People can’t stop talking about this summer’s new hit – the mini-series “Under the Dome.” Kicking off last Sunday on CBS with the suspenseful first installment of a 13-part series, the Stephen King adaption is not likely to disappoint.
We watched as the residents of Chester’s Mill panic as they realize they have become suddenly trapped under a mysterious and impenetrable dome. Fear hits them from all sides – vulnerable to unknown outside forces and known local terrors inside alike – and it’s anyone’s guess what is next for this small town in Maine.
It should come as no surprise that it’s a hit when you consider that it is the most recent in the long line of Stephen King adaptions that have been box-office hits and cult favorites. From the horror film standards, like “The Shining” and “Carrie,” to the cult classics, like “Stand By Me” and “Cujo,” King’s stories have equally fascinated and haunted us for nearly 40 years.
While we have 12 more Sundays to find out how this story ends, we are already hooked.
Do you think “Dome” will become as iconic as King’s previous adaptations?
