TiVo Top Moments from the 64th Primetime Emmy Awards   by

This year’s Emmy winners were mostly predictable with Modern Family nabbing an award in nearly every comedy category and The Daily Show winning for variety series for the 10th consecutive year. The biggest surprises came from newcomer Homeland, who not only took home best drama series (ending Mad Men’s four-year hot streak for the award), but who’s stars Claire Danes and Damian Lewis ran away with best actress and actor in a drama series as well.

But we all know the best part about awards shows like this, are usually the bits, introductions, and flubs that happen throughout the show in between the acceptance speeches. Our Audience Research team has compiled the Top 5 TiVo Moments from the 64th Primetime Emmy Awards:

1.       9:56pm – Ricky Gervais  presents the award to Jon Stewart for outstanding variety, music or comedy series for “The Daily Show With Jon Stewart,”.  As Jon tries to get on stage he is tackled by fellow nominees Stephen Colbert and Jimmy Fallon.

2.       9:28pm – After Jimmy Kimmel’s In Memoriam tribute to himself, Julianna Margulies presents the award for outstanding lead actor in a drama series to Damian Lewis for Homeland.

3.       8:38pm – Mindy Kaling and Melissa McCarthy’s hysterical introduction for the nominees of outstanding lead actor in a comedy series.

4.       9:14pm – Jimmy Kimmel’s prank is for Tracy Morgan to lie down on the stage and he asks all the people at home to post on Facebook and Twitter “OMG Tracy Morgan just passed out on stage at the Emmy’s.  Turn ABC on now.”

5.       8:45pm – Julia Louis-Dreyfus begins her acceptance speech for outstanding lead actress in a comedy series by reading Amy Pohler’s speech which they had inadvertently exchange when they hugged after the winner was announced.

These are all memorable, laugh-out-loud-worthy moments, but the bit that is alarmingly missing from this list is Modern Family’s ‘Lily is a monster’ pre-taped sketch wherein the actress who plays little Lily bullies everyone on set and Ed O’Neill tries to replace her with a pigtail-sporting Ken Jeong. Need we say more?
