From sprinters to long distance runners, track & field finished strong in last night’s Olympic coverage, grabbing four out of five TiVo Top Moments. The most watched moment was the finish of the men’s 4x100m relay as the fastest man in the world set a record with the fastest team in the world.
Usain Bolt brought home the baton for Jamaican to win gold with a record setting time. He also brings home three gold medals and another record: the first person to win golds in the 100m, 200m and the 4x100m relays at consecutive Olympic games. Bolt set four world records in Bejing and London and lived up to his title as the “fastest man in the world.”
The US women’s track and field team won gold in the 4x400m relay. They led the entire race and beat Russia by almost three-and-a-half seconds. Russia’s Mariya Savinova, the reigning world champion, won a gold medal in the women’s 800m final. Mo Farah of Great Britain won the gold in the men’s 5000m event. The home crowd cheered Farah down the stretch when he beat Ethiopia and Kenya in the distance race.
The top moment off the track occurred when USA’s David Boudia scored a gold medal in the men’s 10m platform dive. Viewers watched as Boudia anxiously awaited the judges’ score for Qiu Bo of China. Boudia’s gold was the first in diving by an American man since the 1992 games.
