He’s Just Not That Into You…or at Least Your Taste in Movies   by

Hellooooo fellow TiVo® lovers! Greg Behrendt here taking over the TiVo blog today to talk about two things we all love: your significant other…and your TV! I’m a husband, comedian, relationship expert, and author of a book turned movie turned motto that you may have heard: “He’s Just Not That Into You.”

Let’s face it, no matter how adorable your significant other thinks you are, they do NOT want to delete last night’s game for another one of your 80s chick flicks. And no one in their right mind has ever said to their friends, “I knew he (or she) was ‘the one’ when I saw what a remote-hog he/she is!”

The truth is that love has quickly evolved in the digital age and, if used correctly, today’s smart technology can be used to help a relationship!  I recently worked with TiVo to discuss a few interesting findings from the “TiVo Turn on the Love” survey, which found TiVo, the world’s first Smart DVR, can actually help couples spend more quality time together and enjoy more romantic time than generic DVR users.*

Some of my other favorite “TiVo Turn on the Love” survey findings include:

  • The box of love: 73 percent of TiVo respondents enjoyed a boost in romance since bringing the device home, and 5 percent have even reported it has improved their sex life!
  • The end of the remote wars: The TiVo box is helping couples keep the peace, as TiVo respondents fight less over the remote on a monthly basis (9 percent v. 11 percent of non-TiVo users).
  • Drama and sports can even get your hearts and pulses racing: More than half of TiVo respondents will pause dramatic television shows for a smooch (54 percent), and a third of respondents will even pause their favorite team’s games for a kiss (33 percent).  Surprised ladies? Funny how something as simple as a pause button can revolutionize a man’s capacity for romance!
  • Non-TiVo users lack romance: With more to watch and experience, TiVo respondents are more likely to classify a night in with their significant other as romantic, quality time (71 percent v. 60 percent of non-TiVo users responding to the survey). That’s a solid 10 percent of more happy, nurtured relationships, people!
  • So, it’s time to turn on the love and all you’ll need is TiVo (and some advice from yours truly)! Learn more.
